R, during pre-game pep talk Saturday before game 2
If you’ve ever watched Shoresy, you know how important it is to set the tone.
After finishing last in the league, I’m sure we all knew these young adults were better than that. And I think we also all knew that sometimes it’s hard to show up and prove yourself—but that’s exactly what they did this weekend.
This season wasn’t just about wins and losses. It was about growth. Not the easy kind, either. The kind that shows up in tough games, bad bounces, and learning how to respect the people around you, even when things aren’t going your way.
I am so proud of every one of these kids. Being on the bench with them, I was able to see and hear so much (often too much, lol) more than what’s witnessed from the stands. They supported one another, cheered each other on, and stood up for themselves and their teammates.
To those I may not get to see again, you are destined for great things. Treat life like this hockey season. Not everything is going to go your way, but you now know that you can roll with the highs, lows, and everything in between—and come out on the other side victorious.
