Preparing Your Preschooler for Picture Day
The preschool years go by quickly, so capturing these moments with a photo session is a must! Here’s how to get your little one ready for picture day:
- Choose a Comfortable Outfit
Pick something simple and comfy that your child will feel good in. Let them help pick out their outfit or take them shopping for the perfect look. Avoid clothes that are too fussy, and remember to pack a backup change of clothes, wipes, and extra hair ties or clips just in case. Also, avoid snacks that might stain, like berries or anything with red dye. - Explain the Event
Talk to your preschooler about what picture day is and what they can expect. A little “mock” photoshoot at home can help them practice sitting still and smiling. You can even share your own preschool photos to help them understand why the day is so special! - Make it Exciting
The more excited you are, the more excited they’ll be! Talk up the day and show them your own preschool pictures. If possible, volunteer at the preschool to be there as a cheerleader during their photoshoot. - Trust the Experts

We suggest dressing your child in simple, comfortable clothing that they can move around in easily. Solid colours or subtle patterns work best, as they keep the focus on your child’s smile. Avoid clothing with large logos, text, or characters, as these can be distracting in photos. Layers like cardigans or vests can add a nice touch, and if your child has a favorite outfit they love wearing, that’s always a great choice—it helps them feel relaxed and confident in front of the camera!
You will receive your child’s photo proofs within 7–10 business days after picture day. You will then have 2 weeks to review the proofs and place your order. Once the order deadline has passed, printed items will take an additional 2–3 weeks to be packaged and delivered directly to the daycare. We will keep you informed throughout the process to ensure everything runs smoothly!
We offer a variety of products to preserve and showcase your child’s portraits. Our selection includes archival-quality prints, high-resolution digital files, magnets, keychains, and mugs. These items make for wonderful keepsakes and great gifts for family and friends.
There is no upfront cost for picture day! All children will be photographed, and there is no obligation to purchase any photos. After picture day, you’ll receive the photo proofs and can choose to order the portraits that you love. Print and package pricing will be provided once a portrait date has been set. We offer a variety of affordable options to suit different preferences and budgets.
If your child misses picture day, don’t worry! We’ll offer a makeup day so they won’t miss out on their portraits. We’ll send out details about the makeup session, so you’ll have a chance to schedule an alternative time.
Yes, we do! If you’d like your children photographed together, just let us know, and we’ll arrange a sibling photo session during picture day. It’s a great way to capture memories of your little ones together!
After picture day, you’ll receive a link to an online gallery where you can view your child’s photo proofs. Each child will have their own separate gallery, making it easy to find and review their images. You’ll also be able to share the gallery with family members, so they can enjoy the photos and even place orders if they'd like.
Our photographer is experienced in working with children of all personalities, and we always create a fun, relaxed environment. If your child feels shy or isn’t in the mood to smile, don’t worry! We’ll take extra care to ensure they’re comfortable and can capture a beautiful, genuine moment when they’re ready.
